Anthony Minichiello has this week re-signed with the Sydney Roosters for one year ensuring the former Golden Boot winner remains a one-club man for another season.
Minichiello, whose career has been hampered by injury for the past 4 seasons, made his debut in 2000 and this contract extension will see him enter his 11th year at the Club.
Having finally made his way back to the field and absent of any ongoing injury concerns, the 2010 season sees Minichiello become one of the most senior Roosters players and an integral part of the team both on and off the field moving forward.
“Anthony is a valuable character to this Club and we were delighted he decided to join us for another season,” said Roosters CEO Steve Noyce.
“He is such a big part of the Club and with 10 years of service under his belt we were obviously keen to keep him here as part of our future moving forward.
“He will take on a bigger leadership role from next season and we are looking forward to seeing him step up into that position.”
Minichiello said he was happy to have his future secured and was looking forward sending Craig Fitzgibbon in style.
“I’m pretty thankful that the Club gave me a shot. I feel that I’ve still got some worth in the NRL and for the Roosters and I wanted to repay a bit of loyalty,” said Minichiello.
“Obviously we want to win a few games and get rid of the wooden spoon. It would be great to win the last two games and send Fitzy out in style. He has been great for this Club so we just have to keep working hard and see what happens.”
